YLF Youth Leadership Forum
The Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities (YLF) is a unique leadership- training program for high school students with disabilities. Students will represent their communities as delegates in Florida’s state capital, learning to cultivate leadership, citizenship, and social skills.

FILC Youth Committee
The Florida Independent Living Council (FILC) Youth Committee is a standing committee representing the commitment to youth initiatives as outlined under goal one of the State Plan on Independent Living (SPIL). Tasks include, but are not limited to, reviewing the Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) pre/post survey data, assisting in increasing awareness and access to resources for youth with disabilities, and developing outreach for Centers for Independent Living (CILs) to reach youth consumers.
The youth committee shall be responsible for ensuring objectives and activities under goal one of the SPIL are being met. The Committee will actively partner with the CILs Youth Coordinators, the Youth Leadership Forum, Department of Education, and other state and community partners.
CIL Youth Transition Services
Our Centers for Independent Living offer youth transition services such as:
- Independent living skills classes
- Job exploration and employment services
- Self-advocacy training
- Peer support social groups
- High School High Tech
- Project SEARCH
